Dear Joe: President Trump Must Be Prosecuted
An open letter to incoming President Joe Biden
Dear Joe,
You won’t remember me, but we’ve met. It was 1993, and I was 14 and part of a group of high school students from Pennsylvania, New York, and Delaware who collectively drafted a clean water bill. Our sponsor was Harris Wofford (wish he were still with us to see this day), but you made a point to come over and introduce yourself. You shook our hands and told us to stay involved in our government. So here I am, taking your advice and staying involved.
First of all, congratulations. After devoting most of your life to the service of your nation and your fellow Americans, you’ve earned election to the highest office in the land — some would say the world! A lot of people around the globe will regard you as a savior, which is probably a lot of pressure, but I think you can handle it with wisdom and modesty. You’re still that kid from Scranton, Pennsylvania who never traded his Amtrak ticket for a limo ride.
You’re one of the most authentic people in politics, and I know you love this country and you want to see it healed. That’s why I need you hear me out: You have to prosecute Donald Trump.
Not you personally, of course — it would be terrible for the President to impose such a thing…
